The awards are regarded as the country’s pre-eminent industry-based awards program, celebrating projects across the residential, commercial and public sectors.

MinRes HQ at 20 Walters Drive was one of three projects in Western Australia to be shortlisted in the Workplace Design category.

The building’s design was guided by the International WELL Building Standards and opened in June 2022 with the aim of setting a new standard for workplace wellness.

Features include a restaurant on level 12, Benny’s, which offers an a la carte menu and take-home meal options for those who want to skip cooking at the end of the day.

There’s also a café serving barista-made coffee, Alba’s, a 1000 square metre fitness centre, Next Level, and a health centre providing medical, occupational health and psychology services.

A creche opened in late 2022, offering high-quality care in a nurturing and safe environment for children aged 8 weeks to 12 years, six days a week.

The facility is designed to provides short-term or ad-hoc care for children while their parents/guardians participate in work, a meeting or go to the gym.

MinRes Chief People and Shared Services Officer Bronwyn Grieve said 20 Walters Drive had played a critical role in attracting and retaining top talent.

“Workplace wellbeing is absolutely critical at MinRes. We believe it is fundamental to having a productive, thriving business,” Bronwyn said.

“Our headquarters is a wonderful place to work and the investment has resulted in huge improvements to collaboration and productivity.”

Project architect Davina Bester, the founder and Principal of Milieu Creative, said the Perth-based design and architecture studio was thrilled to be shortlisted alongside an esteemed group.

“The vision for 20 Walters Drive was to create a modern, innovative space that would inspire creativity and collaboration,” Davina said.

“Our aim was to design a workplace that was not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing, with amenity that’s normally accessed within the community rather than at a corporate workplace.

“We saw this as an opportunity for MinRes to have their building represent who they are today and what they want for the future, which really is all about their people.

“Our team is grateful to be recognised for our work and dedication to creating exceptional spaces that are not only functional, but importantly have a positive impact on its occupants.”
